Púca’s Commercial Director, Eileen Carroll accepted the award for the company’s work on “UTI Diary” a medical research app developed in conjunction with the SIMPle research team at NUI Galway.
Eileen Carroll commented “We’re so thrilled to have won this award and congratulations to the NUI Galway team who were fantastic to work with on this project. Winning the Tech Excellence Mobile Project of the Year for the fifth time is a testament to our team’s hard work in building great apps and integrated mobile services. We’ve been taking part in the mobile category of the Tech Excellence awards for a decade now, and every year sees the competition getting fiercer – so hats off to the other entries in this category.”
The app was developed to allow the SIMPle project to track symptoms and illness’ related to UTI’s (Urinary Tract Infections). The app was one of the first in the Irish health sector to collect data in real time. With recent developments in the mobile health sector – such as the launch of Apple’s ResearchKit – the award underlines the potential for smartphone apps in the medical research arena.
