Suzanne Delaney: My Mobile Life

Q:        Suzanne, what gets you out of bed in the morning?
A:         Ha. The neighbour’s chickens… and sometimes the dogs going off in harmony with the chickens.

Q:        Is your phone one of the first things that you reach for?
A:         No it’s not actually. I purposely leave my phone downstairs, unless my husband is away and I need an alarm clock.

Q:        Do you remember the make/model of your very first mobile phone?
A:         I don’t recall the model but I do know it was a Nokia.

Q:        Could you live without your Smartphone?
A:         No. It is my lifesaver and helps me live my life every day, whether it’s work or play, with the kids, travel… it’s my right arm!

Q:        Do you have a tablet as well?
A:         Yep – have the tablet, the phone, you name it… PC and a Mac… the lot!

Q:        What’s your favourite feature on your current Smartphone?
A:         Video. I love being able to document everything really quickly. I also like utility apps that help me manage my life. Anything that helps me manage my life better.

Q:        What would be your ‘Desert Island’ App?
A:         Hmm…. definitely not Facebook. And I’m fond of Twitter… but on a Desert Island, I guess it would have to be Spotify.

Q:        If you were to create your very own multi-billion euro app idea, what would it be?
A:         Something in the area of education. Bringing to life history and culture. Maybe something you could do with the kids and help educate… say about the history of Greek culture… bringing it to life in a way that inspires children to learn.

Q:        What’s your favourite social network?
A:         Twitter and LinkedIn are probably my favourite but I also love Pinterest. It depends on the task and the chore, for example, I was recently doing up my house so Pinterest was fantastic.

Q:        To Beacon or not to Beacon?
A:         To Beacon. Once it’s been planned and thought out properly.

Q:        Do you use M-Commerce / Mobile payments?
A:         Yes for the car parks

Q:        What’s the last thing you purchased via mobile?
A:         Flights to Amsterdam.

Q:        Ever received/used mobile coupons via SMS?
A:         Yes. I know we probably use them more for campaigns than I do personally. But I saw today that both Tesco and I think Peter Mark are rolling out broadband/ WiFi in all their stores so will obviously allow the consumer to be more ‘connected’.

Q:        Any loyalty apps on your smartphone?
A:         Yes. I have the new Brown Thomas and Arnotts ones. I use those for myself but a lot of other ones I might trial and test for work.

Q:        Spotify or Vinyl?
A:         Hmm… Spotify (emphatically)

Q:        What is the last text you received from a brand/business?
A:         Well I think everybody is up to scratch now whether it’s hairdressers, doctors’ appointments, dentists, beauty appointments… l I think everybody is up to date with mobile messaging or mobile text.

Q:        What’s the most exciting thing about mobile marketing today?
A:         I guess the fact that penetration of Smartphones is so great… it’s in everybody’s hand. So you have control over your life and what you do, how you play with it…. it’s also educating people to be more creative…. to share, to open up and to communicate with others in a better way.
