Russell describes himself as a “mobile technology entrepreneur” and his company Hailo is one of the fastest growing start ups of the decade with a Hailo “hail” every two seconds worldwide. Hailo’s global network now spans over 60,000 drivers in London, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Ireland, Madrid, Barcelona, Osaka and Singapore, and since its launch in 2011 Hailo cabs have transported over 32 million passengers.
Q: Russell – What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: My iPhone alarm! Then the realization that I’m going in for another exciting day at Hailo.
Q: Is your phone one of the first things that you reach for?
A: Yes. First to stop the alarm then flick through emails/texts/Whatsapp messages.
Q: Do you remember the make/model of your very first mobile phone?
A: Yes, a BT Ivory*. It wasn’t exactly small or light but it did the job. It was the proverbial house hold brick!

A: In a word, No!
Q: What’s your favourite device apart from your smartphone?
A: My MacBook Air.
Q: How many ‘mobile/connected’ devices do you have?
A: Five. 2 laptops, iPhone and 2 Macs.

A: Siri – pretty cool.
Q: What would be your ‘Desert Island’ App (i.e. couldn’t live without)?
A: I’d have to say Hailo and hopefully Hailo will get near my Desert Island and save me.
