Nov '07 - INDUSTRY NEWS: 3 launch Skypephone
Skype and 3G operator 3 have jointly developed a mobile device that allows users to make Skype-to-Skype calls whilst on the move.

3 customers using the 3 Skypephone will be able to make Skype calls and send instant messages with the push of a button. Skype-to-Skype calls will be free on the 3 Skypephone as long as users are on contract or their 3 credit is topped up monthly.
The device is also a regular 3G handset with the ability to make standard voice calls and access 3's range of Internet services. It features a two-megapixel digital camera as well as a built-in MP3 player and Bluetooth capability.
The handset was developed by Skype and 3 in partnership with Qualcomm, using Qualcomm's Brew platform to enable Skype to work with core handset features such as address book and messaging.
The 3 Skypephone will be available this year in Ireland, the UK, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Macau and Sweden.
Worldwide more than 246 million people are registered to use Skype.
