Mobile campaign a first for Microsoft
Microsoft is running a mobile marketing campaign tying in with the launch of its new flagship software suite, Microsoft Office 2007 and Puca has been chosen as its technology provider.
An SMS element has been included in a radio ad campaign running on national Radio stations in Ireland. At the end of the spot, listeners are invited to text OFFICE to a free text short code, 50100. In return, they receive an email requesting their name and address in order to receive a trial CD from Microsoft.
Puca is providing an SMS messaging platform to manage the text traffic and provide reporting statistics back to Microsoft.
A growing number of well known brands, from computers to cars, are incorporating SMS as part of their communications mix in order to drive awareness and sales of new products. According to Michael Lavelle, business development manager for Puca, the directness and ease-of-use of SMS is what most appeals to manufacturers.
"It’s a very simple mechanism that works effectively for the advertiser. It also saves money by diverting calls away from call centres", he says.
Although Puca has worked with Microsoft before, it is the first time it has provided the direct response SMS engine behind a major above-the-line campaign.
