Púca develops Web and Mobile presence for Ireland Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo
Púca, through its wholly-owned Chinese subsidiary Púca China, has developed the official web and mobile Internet sites for the Ireland Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. The Expo, which is expected to receive up to 70 million visitors opened on the 1st of May and will run until the end of October. Over 190 countries will participate in the largest ever Expo.

The Ireland Pavilion is a modern expression of urban design and consists of a series of ramped semi-translucent volumes and exhibition spaces suspended over a number of green landscaped mounds which form the plinth of the pavilion. The Pavilion presents Chinese visitors with a vision of Ireland as a country offering a fascinating blend of history, scenery and culture; the World's most open economy exporting high technology, food, fashion, music and culture; and that Ireland offers China an eager English-speaking business, research and education partner within Europe.
The web and mobile presence for the Ireland Pavilion has been developed by Púca’s Beijing office in close collaboration with the company’s Dublin-based team. Both Chinese and English language versions are available. The website contains a variety of useful and informative content about the Ireland Pavilion - including an interactive Flash tour - as well as a host of information about Ireland itself, its tourism, arts and culture and about the long-standing relations between Ireland and China. A mobile Internet site has been specifically developed to cater for Chinese mobile phone users.
A Mobile Guide to the Pavilion, developed in Java, will also be available shortly and can be downloaded directly to visitors’ mobile handsets.
With over 800 million mobile subscribers in China, it is by far the world’s largest market and mobile Internet use is very popular.(According to Ericsson, 22% of urban Chinese use the Internet on their mobile phones each week compared to 13% in the UK - see our Industry news story). It was therefore felt important to ensure that mobile phone users were catered for when developing the full digital presence for the Ireland Pavilion.
