Support the East Africa Appeal

Meteor, Three Mobile, Vodafone and O2 through the Irish Cellular Industry Association (ICIA), have joined forces to help millions of people in East Africa by facilitating text donations.

By texting 'HELP' to 57500, you can aid the drought response. Texts cost €5, of which €4.13 goes directly to charity. The mobile operators' costs related to the provision of this text appeal have been waived.

The worst drought in 60 years - combined with dramatic spikes in food prices - has triggered this catastrophic food crisis, leaving approximately 12 million people in need of immediate assistance.

All funds received will be divided equally between Concern Worldwide, Oxfam Ireland and Trócaire and will go a long way to providing food, water, shelter and medical supplies to millions of people in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia.

"Concern is extremely grateful to the ICIA, the mobile operators and Puca for carrying out this mobile appeal on behalf of Concern, Trocaire and Oxfam. The scale of the need in East Africa is staggering, and every donation can help to make a difference in the lives of those affected by the drought. Thank you on behalf of all of Concern’s staff in Dublin, Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia."  Richard Dixon, Director of Public Affairs, Concern Worldwide.
